Iran’s Air Defense Responds to Israeli Strikes

Iran activated its air defense system above Tehran on Saturday in response to the intensifying Israeli attacks. Iran’s state media agency, IRNA, reported that Iranian defenses responded to “adversarial targets” identified in the airspace over Tehran province.

Iranian official media reported six powerful explosion-like noises, but their sources were unknown. It further said, citing a statement from an Iranian military officer, that air defense systems were used to counter strikes in three distinct places around Tehran. According to an IRNA source, the loud sounds recorded were caused by air defense action in Tehran, and the system worked properly during the incident.
The Israel Defence Force (IDF) confirmed early in the morning of Saturday that its military had launched “precise strikes” on Iranian military sites, around a month after Tehran launched around 200 ballistic missiles towards Israel. The Israeli army spokesman Rear Admiral Danial Hagari said in a statement, “Right now, the Israel Defence Force is conducting precise strikes on military targets in Iran.”
